This world-famous house was designed by architects Bijvoet and Duiker. Their other notable designs include Sanatorium Zonnestraal and Grand Hotel Gooiland in Hilversum. Stommeerkade 64 in Aalsmeer is a prime example of modernist architecture, an overarching movement that really gained momentum after the First World War. Throughout the world, architects and those who are interested in architecture remain very interested in the style. The house is mentioned in numerous books about architecture.

The home was fully restored in 1987 under the supervision of the Department for the Preservation of Historic Buildings and Sites. The current owner has maintained it with care and an eye for detail. Since the house is listed in the monuments and historic buildings register, there may be tax advantages in the context of maintenance.

Just a stones throw away from the centre of Aalsmeer and only 15 minutes away by car from Schiphol airport, the home is very conveniently located in the Randstad conurbation. At the same time, it offers the charms of a more rural, village setting.
