The Spaarndammerbuurt is a bustling area with shops, various facilities and restaurants and cafés, close to the Jordaan and the Haarlemmerstraat. Attractively situated in the centre of Amsterdam, close to the water (for a boat) and Westerpark (recreation, night life, sport) and easily accessible because of the proximity of exit roads and the Central Station. The city centre is only a few minutes away by bike and by car you can reach the A10 ring road (S101, S102) also within minutes. A tunnel for through traffic is built next to the Spaarndammerdijk (scheduled for completion, spring 2017), so that in the future the Spaarndammerdijk will only be used by local traffic. On top of the tunnel a park is constructed which will connect the Houthavens with the existing Spaarndammerbuurt.
Het Behouden Huys:
The HOA - Het Behouden Huys, is a big and professionally managed HOA. All buildings and the 72 apartments were completely renovated in 2003. At the time, major renovations were carried out to the hulls and facades. The apartments were also completely renovated at the time. In the autumn of 2015, major maintenance work was carried out on the outside: all outer walls, doors and window frames, were painted and the central staircases were revamped. The apartment blocks are situated somewhat away from the road and so there is no noise from passing traffic.
