Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is a very popular place to live, with an authentic village center, lots of green areas and yet very close to the city of Amsterdam. In the village you will find all the shops for daily shopping, including a traditional bakery and a fantastic butcher. There is a large choice of cozy restaurants such as Groot Paardenburg, Jamie, Banq, the Kruitfabriek and Loetje. There are several good primary schools and also many sports facilities. It is wonderful cycling and walking along the famous Ronde Hoep but also recreating on the Ouderkerkplas or, a little further, the Botshol or Vinkeveense plassen is possible. With your own boat you can reach Carré in 50 minutes. The secondary schools in Amstelveen and also the Stadshart shopping center and the Schouwburg are within a short distance, Amsterdam-Zuid is 25 minutes by bike and Amsterdam-Centrum can be reached by car in 15 minutes.
It is also a good base for quickly arriving at various points in the Randstad via A1, A2, A9 and A10. There is a direct bus connection from Ouderkerk to Schiphol and Amsterdam Arena (metro, bus and train connection with Amsterdam and Utrecht).
