In the picturesque village of De Kwakel near Uithoorn, just a 15-minute drive from Schiphol Airport, with back road routes to Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Aalsmeer, Uithoorn and Hoofddorp, we have a beautiful thatched luxury farmhouse on offer.
The property has a separate guest house, surrounded by five terraces and approx. 1.8 hectares of farmland.
The name De Kwakel comes from a high footbridge over the Kleine Drecht, which used to cross over the water in days gone by. Kwakel or Kwakeltje is an old Dutch word for bridge. The first occupants arrived in the 16th century. There used to be a lot of poverty in the village, and one of the reasons for this was that the area was often flooded in winter by water from the Haarlemmermeer. De Kwakel has a village square and is further characterised by ribbon development along the waterfront. The ‘old’ name for De Kwakel is Quackel. The village used to be called Vrouwenakker. This is now the name of the next village along the river. The reasons for the village of Vrouwenakker ending up further down the river are unknown. The name Vrouwenakker comes from the noble women who used to have a piece of (arable) land here, often with a farm and sometimes a simple house on it.

Ground floor:
Private driveway, entrance on the right side of the house, spacious entrance hall with a dark hardwood floor, meter box, door to the office; this was previously a cheese cellar with daylight access. From the spacious hall, you take three steps up to the atmospheric upstairs room with a wood-burning fireplace. From the hall, there is access to the very spacious and luxurious kitchen by SieMatic, decorated with authentic farmer tiles. It is equipped with a cooking island which includes a Tepanyaki hob. Two-burner gas stoves are located to the left and right of this Japanese hob. Two steps down from here is the hall and cloakroom.

This space also contains two central heating boilers. On the other side of the laundry room is a very luxurious modern bathroom. The bathroom is fitted with a Belgian stone floor and includes a bath, shower, sink, bidet and two television connections.
Two large sliding glass doors lead to the garden-facing living room which also has Belgian natural stone floors and beautiful details reminiscent of the stables which were once housed there. The living room has a gas fireplace. An elegant staircase leads to the loft that serves as a library.
At the rear of the living room, large sliding doors open out onto the large terrace, which is currently equipped with an electrically operated SunSquare sun and rainproof screen and a wind gauge. This is the perfect place for some undisturbed peace and quiet.

Summer house:
The 2nd hall provides access to the unique in 2015/2016 renovated original summerhouse. After the renovation the original character with characteristic roof, barn windows etc. has been preserved. The rooms are separately accessible and have access to their own terrace. Here is a unique space created which is suitable for family caregiving, B&B but that may also be additional rooms for a family situation. This part of the farm can also be arranged as completely separate apartment with its own entrance. The summer house is very luxurious.
You enter into a large cozy living room with access through sliding doors that are equipped with faceted glass, a spacious bedroom with an adjoining deck to the adjacent ditch. The patio doors give a wonderful light. Through the bedroom, the bathroom and separate toilet are accessible. The bathroom has access to a shower, a sink and there is also a separate room for placing a washer and dryer. The luxury bathroom is white.
Through luxurious doors with beveled glass, through the living room, you enter the 2nd luxurious area with a Loft appearance. This is a unique living/sleeping/workspace! This room is also suitable as a master bedroom. There is a generous bed of 2 meters long and 2.80 meters wide built-in, run in cozy solid wood which is provided on the underside of RGB led illumination. So you can every day change the color of the light to your own liking. They give it cachet and plenty of atmosphere. Through this area you have also access to the beautiful large terrace at the rear of the house.

Second floor:
The second floor of this beautiful home includes the master bedroom with several custom-made cabinets, a spacious bathroom with a large sink, three (bed) rooms and a staircase to the roof of the farmhouse which has been converted into a very large walk-in wardrobe. The three (bed) rooms have Velux windows with blinds which keep the sun out. Two of the bedrooms are also fitted with custom-made cabinets.

Guest house:
Towards the rear of the grounds, you will find a thatched guest house where you can host your guests, resident parents, older children or au-pair. The guest house has a bright and spacious living room with a luxury kitchenette including a fridge, dishwasher, microwave oven and stone sink with a luxury mixer tap. The bedroom is equipped with wardrobe space, a stone sink with mixer tap and a walk-in shower. The guest house has its own electrical box, central heating boiler and alarm. The separate storage room is accessible from outside.

To the rear is the spacious and well-kept garden with several terraces where you can enjoy the view as well as your peace and quiet, at any time of the day.
